Position Overview

Position Overview

Additionally, they should be adept at leading and facilitating meaningful discussions and be committed to cultivating a strong sense of community among students.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach, evaluate, and provide clear, constructive feedback on student writing.
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of and commitment to each stage of the writing process.
- Develop a rigorous and engaging curriculum, including a robust independent reading program.
- Facilitate mature, student-centered discussions that encourage critical thinking.
- Advise student publications as needed.
- Integrate technology effectively to enhance learning experiences.
- Engage in ongoing professional development.
- Collaborate effectively within a dynamic and forward-thinking English department.
- The minimum candidate qualifications are a bachelor’s degree in English Literature or a closely related field.
- At least three years’ teaching experience at the high school level.
- A graduate degree, more than five years’ teaching experience, previous experience at an independent school is preferred.
- Ability to teach a variety of levels, including AP, are strongly preferred.
- Teaching responsibilities will include 5 sections of English, with a class size of approximately 15
- Other responsibilities include serving as an advisor to a group of students and sponsoring clubs as needed.
