What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nurse Practitioner P/T position at Seafield Center Inc.?
Since 1985, Seafield Center has helped people suffering from drug and alcohol addiction to begin the transforming journey to recovery. From detox and inpatient rehabilitation, to outpatient treatment and sober living recovery homes, we provide those battling addiction with the roadmaps towards healing. We are licensed by the New York State Office of Addiction Services & Supports and accredited by the Joint Commission.
MAIN FUNCTION:
- To provide medical care of the client while at Seafield Center and to ensure all newly admitted patients are medically acceptable for admission.
- User role(s)/information systems access as assigned, where applicable.
- This position is classified as Essential for emergency closure purposes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs physical examination and mental status evaluation of each client admitted.
- Upon admission, or within 24 hours of admission, provides an admitting or tentative diagnosis which becomes part of the client’s record.
- Writes initial orders for care of each client upon admission.
- Perform reexamination and treatment of each client pertinent to physical and mental complaints, ranging from supportive reassurance to specific treatment of existing physical illness.
- Consults with outside physicians or dentists as needed.
- Adjusts medications daily where indicated.
- Meets with clients prior to discharge to review medical status and to make appropriate referrals.
- Consults with family as to care, management and health of the client where indicated.
- Ensures that client is informed of his rights either by direct information or through designee.
- Ensures all consents are signed for medical treatment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
At least one year alcoholism treatment experience. A NP who is licensed to practice in the state of New York. A.S.A.M. membership encouraged

- The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned and makes general observations.
