MAIN FUNCTION:
- To assist in maintaining the highest quality of care to all patients.
- To act as health coordinator.
- Document all pertinent nursing care matters in client's EMR.
- Provide Nursing Assessment and consultation to prospective and actual patients.
- Maintain records of all infection control matters pertaining to patients and staff.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
- Maintain log (if applicable) for medications or other solutions (e.g., PPD solution, Naltrexone, Buprenorphine) stored at the facility along with destruction/expiration information.
- Ensure provision of education, risk reduction, counseling, and referral services to all patients regarding HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, hepatitis, sexually transmitted diseases, and other communicable diseases.
- Follow universal precautions and utilize appropriate infection control measures.
- Supervise same-sex urine sample collection for toxicology.
- Administer breathalyzer and alcohol swabs.
- Attend job-related meetings and in-service lectures.
- Inform office manager of general office and medical supplies as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Perform Admission Nursing Assessment and make appropriate nursing diagnoses based on that assessment.
- Assess client's psychiatric history and current psychiatric status.
- Administer medications as ordered by the physician (MAT programs), understand basic pharmacology, and perform PPD testing (intradermal skin test).
- Proficient in basic nursing skills and competent in taking an electrocardiogram and blood pressure.
- Age-specific clinical skills related to adolescent and geriatric clients.
- Proficient in computer usage, including EMR systems, Microsoft Outlook, and other information systems.
- Current New York State Registered Nurse licensure, CPR certification.
