Delivery Driver

JOB SUMMARY

This position loads company delivery vehicle, delivers and markets company products to customers in an assigned territory.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

· Draw product from warehouse inventory to meet expected needs of the day’s route and loads for transport to delivery truck.

· Visit assigned customers and introduces self to key managers and employees.

· Deliver product to customer and obtain customer signature for goods delivered.

· Check customer location for additional sales opportunities and discuss them with manager.

· Arrange for the removal of any damaged product and records any returns.

· Identify potential sales leads and follow-ups on opportunities at locations other than current customers.

· Use cell phone to report progress of deliveries at prearranged intervals.

· After last call, return to warehouse and unload unsold goods, if any, and return it to inventory.

· Summarize daily sales, time sheets, money receipts and other activities on daily call report.

· Relate to customers and vendors in a professional, courteous and respectful manner, appropriately responding to any complaints.

· Uncover and correct problems before they escalate.

· Report any mechanical or operational problems with delivery truck to supervisor.

· Assists in basic general warehouse duties upon completing delivery route.

· Responsible for additional same day deliveries after initial route is completed as necessary.

· Responsible for collecting cash/check from accounts for current and/or past due invoices.

· Responsible for delivering cash/check collections to office at the end of work day or following morning as directed by manager.

· Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Skills, Abilities & Competencies:

· Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

· Must be bilingual (English/Spanish)

· Ability to read directions and use a map or GPS mapping application to plot and carry out delivery route.

· Strong time management, active listening, oral and written expression and comprehension, critical thinking and reasoning skills.

· Ability to exercise good judgment when carrying out duties and to maintain good working relationships with the customers and fellow employees.

· Strong mathematical abilities and the ability to remember words, numbers and other information. Must be able to read, understand and apply information obtained from customer visits; and maintain logs and records.

· Must carry auto insurance with minimum $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury/property damage coverage.

· Must have a positive and supportive attitude.

· Must be able to work in a teamwork oriented working environment yet work independently.

· Excellent organizational skills.

· Must be neat and presentable to represent company effectively in dealing with customers.

Education & Experience:

· High school diploma or GED

· Prior experience as a route sales driver, outside sales, or customer account follow up is preferred. Must have ability to develop these skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach over head with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, drive a delivery vehicle, talk and hear. The employee must have full range of mobility in the upper and lower body and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 80-90 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus as well as occasionally work on a computer. The employee must be able to communicate verbally with customers, vendors and employees. Work is regularly performed in outside weather conditions which may include extreme heat and exposure to wet and/or humid conditions. As a condition of employment, a DOT medical card must be obtained/maintained.
