Position Summary:
The Equipment Manager is responsible for overseeing a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for all golf course maintenance equipment. This includes diagnosing and repairing mechanical defects, maintaining records of parts and labor, and ensuring a clean and safe working environment. The Equipment Manager communicates effectively with the Director of Agronomy, Golf Course Superintendent, and supervises the Mechanic's work assignments.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical defects/failures in various golf course maintenance equipment.
- Instruct and train maintenance workers on preventive maintenance and safe equipment operation.
- Prioritize equipment repair and maintenance tasks.
- Maintain a preventive maintenance program within budget constraints, including purchasing repair parts and supplies.
- Keep detailed records of equipment conditions, parts inventory, repair costs, and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Conduct spot checks on equipment performance on the course and make emergency repairs when necessary.
- Service or supervise the servicing of equipment before use.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Working knowledge of light and heavy maintenance equipment and automobile apparatuses.
- Proficiency in using a variety of equipment repair tools.
- Understanding of the theory, care, and operation of internal combustion engines and mowing equipment.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and determine appropriate maintenance solutions.
- Strong communication skills to address staff needs and inquiries.
- Ability to read budgets and interpret numerical data.
- Analytical skills to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions.
- Proficiency in using computers, preferably in a PC, Windows-based operating environment.
Physical Requirements:
