What are the responsibilities and job description for the CERTIFIED Firefighter-EMT position at Seagoville City Hall?
Under direct supervision, performs fire fighting duties and responds to emergency medical requests for basic life support; performs related duties as required.
Essential duties include, but not limited to:
Responds to incidents requiring firefighting, basic emergency care, specialized rescue, searches, and hazardous material emergencies. May make initial determination of necessary personnel, equipment and suppression or containment tactics until relieved by superior officer. Responsible for fire suppression functions which include but not limited to: rescue, deploying and operating fire hose, ventilation, salvage and overhaul and other related tasks associated with fire suppression. May conduct fire prevention activities in schools and for civic organizations. Drives, maintains and operates all assigned Fire apparatus; inspects apparatus daily to ensure efficient operation and readiness; Performs fire inspections at businesses, churches and other facilities, follow-up inspections to insure correction of any hazardous conditions identified; conducts pre-planning of business establishments with the assigned area Responsibility for attending and successful completed of all required training. Regular and on-time attendance and alertness to duty.
Qualifications
Minimum eighteen (18) years of age with a high school diploma or GED;
Basic Fire Certification (TCFP);
Basic EMT Certification (TDHS) (Paramedic Incentive);
Valid Texas Drivers license with the ability to obtain a valid Texas Class A or Class B exempt drivers license within 60 days of hire;
Acceptable driving record with the ability to maintain an acceptable driving record;
Special Requirements
MUST be able to successfully maintain all required certifications and licenses as applicable;
MUST be able to successfully complete the physical agility test, physical examination and drug screen.
