What are the responsibilities and job description for the Permit / Planning Technician position at Seagoville City Hall?
Under the supervision of the Community Development Director, the Permit / Planning Tech is responsible for assisting staff, citizens, contractors, and developers with applications and permit fees. The essential duties include, but are not limited to, the following: registering contractors; answering phones; greeting customers; issuing Certificates of Occupancy; processing electrical and gas releases; reporting power outages; coding and submitting invoices for payment; reviewing and processing rezoning, subdivision, variance, specific use permits, design review, as well as other related applications; preparing appropriate public hearing notices, property owner verification, and attending public hearings; developing and maintaining automated tracking system, hard copy files and records; preparing narrative staff reports and recommendations of limited complexity; preparing maps, charts, tables of limited complexity; being responsible for maintaining active/inactive case files for the Department; and attending public meetings, assisting other staff as appropriate. Requires some evening work on meeting nights. Performs related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MUST HAVE High School Diploma or GED; Permit Technician Certification issued through the State of Texas is preferred; minimum one (1) year general clerical experience; minimum one (1) year experience in planning and zoning and excellent customer service experience.
