ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN
SeaLandAire Technologies in Jackson, Michigan is looking for an Electrical Technician to join our team. SeaLandAire provides engineering services for data collection in difficult environments.
A SeaLandAire Electrical Technician performs various technical functions and assignments in support of engineering and/or production under the direction of the Lab Manager. Technicians may be found in any or all the technical functions, including design engineering, product assurance, industrial engineering, computer applications, and production.
To succeed in this role, you should have excellent attention to detail, design and analysis skills, and be able to work within a team.
Essential Functions*
Assemble breadboard circuits and prototypes, including the calibration, fabrication, and functional checkout of equipment and products. This is a key function, and you must have experience in this component.
Read and interpret schematics, drawings, and other formal/informal documentation, as provided.
Record data and assist engineers, as required.
Fabricate, calibrate and repair engineering, production, and facility equipment and fixtures, as required.
May be assigned to special projects where specialty skills in related disciplines, such as computer applications, may be required.
Able to use Microsoft Office.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Since a majority of SeaLandAire's business is funded by the US Department of Defense, applicants must be a "US Person" (US Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident). The employee will have to pass a background check.
Education & Experience
Associate degree, comparable vocational technical certificate, completion of comparable military technical training, or equivalent experience in related discipline with an additional one year of industrial experience desirable
Experience/training in electronics or Electrical Engineer Technologies preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Technical Proficiencies
Comfortable using a wide range of test equipment (e.g. logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, power supplies, precision signal amplifiers, data acquisition cards, etc.)
Demonstrate expertise in mechanical/electronics discipline
Research and help in part selection & procurement of electrical components
Under the supervision of Engineers, perform tasks such as assembly, test setup, testing of electrical and mechanical materials, components, and subassemblies
Precision SMT placement and soldering on all circuit boards and electrical assemblies.
Experience with the assembly of surface mount and thru-hole components, wiring, and testing of analog and digital subassemblies
Requires an excellent understanding of assembly techniques and test methods
Experience in reading PCB schematics
Able to maintain detailed records of assembly using MS office tools
Proficient in writing test procedures and data recording using MS Office tools
Ensure that all assignments are performed in accordance with company safety standards and, where applicable, with proper personal safety protective equipment
Ability to follow mechanical and electrical documentation
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is an onsite, full-time hourly position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., 40 hours per week. Hours are somewhat flexible and occasional late evenings and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
Some travel may be required for field testing, vendor selections, and customer interface.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at the manufacturing site. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is occasionally performed in outside weather conditions (PPE will be provided).
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear (sometimes in a noisy environment). This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing, sitting for long periods of time, and repetitive movements with hands. The employee must frequently move and lift items over 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
