Job Title: Youth Engagement Specialist Intern   Location: Juneau, AK   Job Summary: Join Tlingit and Haida as the Youth Engagement Specialist intern this summer! You will be part of the Youth Wellness & Prevention team and help build culturally responsive programming for youth of all ages. This internship will give you the opportunity to plan, develop, and implement culturally based summer programs. You will learn how to support and measure academic and social emotional wellbeing of Alaska Native youth that you will work with. You will learn how to design programs and put together budgets for youth engagement programming.   Specific projects will include working on Tlingit and Haida’s Haa Latséen: Fitness Concepts, a culturally based fitness course for high school students, and Native Youth Olympics program. This position will take place onsite and in-person at the Tlingit and Haida office in Juneau, AK. An early start date of June 2, 2025, is preferred if the intern candidate is available.   Duties/Responsibilities: Support the Tlingit & Haida Youth Wellness & Prevention team in implementation of culturally responsive summer programing.  Assist in event set up and break down, including lifting boxes or supplies. Assist the team in leading activities for youth from grade school to high school. Receive training in youth development. Perform other duties as assigned.   Required Skills/Abilities: Experience supporting youth Interest in creating culturally responsive programming Organization skills Able to both collaborate with a team and work independently Ability to meet deadlines Strong written and verbal communication skills Must be a Sealaska shareholder, descendant of a shareholder, or spouse of a shareholder Legally authorized to work in the United States Ability to travel as needed   Education and Experience: Must be age 18 at time of hire Must be currently enrolled in post-secondary school/program or a recent graduate (1-2 years) Legally authorized to work in the United States   Preferred: Major in Education, social work, or public health Knowledge of Lingit language and culture Experience in youth development At least a 2.5 GPA Strong critical thinking and research skills Self-starter with ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment   Application Process: Complete online application at Sealaska.com/careers by January 27, 2025.
