Primary Purpose :
The Health Science Teacher shall, under the direction of the Principal, provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth. They enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
Qualifications :
Education / Certification :
- Associate's degree in appropriate field including course work in the subject or program to which assigned upon hire
- Bachelor's degree Preferred
- Valid Appropriate CTE Teaching Certification, issued by Texas Education Agency or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI)
- Valid Healthcare Professional License or Certification Must maintain
- Current First Aid / CPR / AED Instructor Certification Must obtain within 1 year of hire date and maintain current certification
- Minimum of 2 years of wage-earning work experience within the last 10 years Qualifying field : Healthcare
Special Knowledge / Skills :
Knowledge of career and technical education subject assigned
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Ability to oversee student field experiences in career area assigned
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience :
Student teaching, approved internship, or 2 years of wage-earning experience in the area of certification
