JOB TITLE: USD 345 School Police Officer
REPORTS TO: Director of Security
JOB GOAL: To ensure a safe and secure learning environment. To work in partnership with the administration, faculty and
students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school diploma.
2. Kansas Certified Law Enforcement Officer
3. Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Patrols School grounds, and parking areas to prevent fire, theft, vandalism. and illegal entry.
2. Maintain Law Enforcement certification by obtaining a minimum 40 hours of training through fiscal year July 1, - June 30. To include weapon[s] CPOST certification.
3. Up hold Kansas Laws and Board Policy on and around district schools.
4. Work with Director’s and building Principal’s on security, traffic and other issues.
5. Assist other Law Enforcement Agencies and District Attorney’s Office.
6. Security at district activities, if available and has a desire to work the events.
7. Transport Monies to the bank.
8. Perform Residential check to ensure student live in the district.
9. Perform home visits to check on the status of a student for truancy issues or other Child in Need a care issues.
10. Transport students to juvenile intake, Shawnee County Department of Corrections or possible treatment facilities, as needed.
11. Assist staff with student issues.
12. Be visible in hallways / school during passing periods, lunch periods and assemblies, or as needed, if available.
13. Let building secretary know when you leave the building and when you return.
14. Attend school staff meeting if the Administrations wants you to attend.
15. Provide training to the district employees on law related topics or emergency procedures.
16. Responsible for school cameras make sure operational and to obtain footage, as needed.
17. Confront unwanted person[s] on the property or in the building.
18. Prepare Kansas Standard Offense Reports or Miscellaneous reports to document incidents.
19. Assist district Schools with lock down drills.
20. Respond to district alarm if the director is not available.
21. Responsible for assigning School keys.
22. Respond to other schools as needed.
23. If man power allows patrol district building and facilities.
24. Attend hearing if requested.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Director of Security with input from building Principals.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve-month 40-hour work week and opportunties for additional income with overtime and supervision of activities
