About the Role:
The HR Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and leading a team of professional human resources staff engaged in a variety of HR functions including talent acquisition, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, leave management, and other HR-related activities and programs. The HR Supervisor provides guidance and support to HR staff, fosters a positive and productive work environment, and collaborates with cross-functional departments as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead a team of HR professionals, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to ensure high-quality HR service delivery
- Oversee the onboarding process for new employees, ensuring a smooth transition and effective integration into the organization
- Provide support and guidance to employees and management regarding employee relations issues, conflict resolution, and workplace policies exercising sound judgment, discretion, and confidentiality
- Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other employee perks, ensuring timely and accurate processing of enrollments, changes, and claims
- Oversee the management of employee leave programs, including FMLA, Paid Family Leave, Short term disability, and other types of employee absences, ensuring compliance with applicable policies and laws
- Track and report on key HR metrics, including but not limited to turnover, employee engagement, and retention trends, to HR Director
- Support the continuous improvement of HR processes and workflows, identifying opportunities for greater efficiency and effectiveness
- Stay informed on changes to HR laws, regulations, and best practices, ensuring that HR practices remain up to date and compliant
- Oversee the preparation of accurate and comprehensive HR records, reports, and documentation, ensuring compliance with established standards
- Prepare, review, and audit HR-related reports (e.g., EEOC, OSHA, pension, etc.) to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Oversee and reconcile billing related to HR activities, ensuring accuracy and timely processing
- Performs other duties/responsibilities as assigned within the scope of the position
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required
- Minimum of five (5) years of professional HR experience, with at least one (1) year in a supervisory or leadership role
- Strong knowledge of HR functions including talent acquisition, benefits administration, employee relations, and leave management
- In-depth understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
- Proficiency with HRIS programs and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work at our Brooklyn location occasionally, as needed
- SHRM certification a plus
Compensation:
$65,000 - $68,500 per year
