Job Overview :
Search Solution Group is seeking a Buyer on behalf of our client, a farmer-owned cooperative committed to producing high-quality apple-based food and drinks in Selah, WA. In this role, you will be responsible for procuring a variety of raw materials, with a focus on complex items like juices, purees, and flavors. You will play a critical role in ensuring the timely supply of materials to support production schedules and meet customer demands.
Key Responsibilities :
- Analyze MRP (Material Requirements Planning) data to identify supply replenishment needs.
- Prepare and issue purchase orders to suppliers.
- Confirm order details, pricing, and shipping Incoterms (DDP, CIF, etc.) for complex items.
- Track and monitor order status to ensure on-time delivery.
- Proactively review production schedules and participate in production calls.
- Collaborate with suppliers to address material defects, delivery shortages, and invoice discrepancies.
- Investigate root causes of supply non-conformance and obtain corrective actions.
- Identify and evaluate new sources for raw materials and packaging.
- Request and coordinate supplier quality and food safety documentation.
- Manage and negotiate quotes to ensure competitive pricing.
- Prepare monthly supply cost reports.
- Acquire, review, and maintain food safety documentation from suppliers.
- Provide material forecasts to suppliers for long-lead-time items.
- Analyze inventory levels and collaborate with suppliers to maintain optimal stock.
- Assist in the annual budgeting process.
- Troubleshoot and correct discrepancies in the ERP system.
- Participate in project teams for new product launches and SKU updates.
- Identify opportunities for process, quality, and cost improvements using Lean methodologies.
- Collaborate with internal teams and vendors on packaging and raw material specifications.
- Manage slow-moving and obsolete inventory.
- Communicate potential production concerns related to supplies.
- Coordinate on-time delivery of materials to plants and warehouses.
