Job Overview :

The Director of Business Development will drive strategic growth for our client, a leading CDMO specializing in the research, development, and manufacturing of liquid and lyophilized drug products. This role is vital to expanding the client base, fostering long-term relationships, and enhancing market presence, particularly across the biopharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors. The Director will play a key role in identifying opportunities, negotiating contracts, and ensuring alignment with the company's corporate growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Identify and approach prospective clients in the biopharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors, focusing on CDMO services.
  • Develop and execute a targeted client acquisition strategy tailored to industry needs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders, biotech companies, and pharmaceutical clients.
  • Monitor industry trends to identify emerging opportunities and align strategies accordingly.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, roadshows, and client visits to enhance brand visibility and grow the sales pipeline.
  • Conduct high-level meetings with stakeholders to ensure alignment with corporate growth goals.
  • Participate in technical discussions, create tailored proposals, and lead contract negotiations, including terms related to IP, liability, pricing, and payments.
  • Support the full sales process, prioritizing strategic client needs.
  • Foster long-term relationships with clients by delivering excellent customer service and maintaining high satisfaction levels.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop customized solutions addressing client needs.
  • Analyze market trends and opportunities to adapt strategies and address emerging business needs.
  • Regularly track and report KPIs such as signed contracts, pipeline growth, and approval rates to optimize performance.

Requirements Include :

Education :

  • Master's degree, PhD, or higher education in a scientific field (e.g., pharmacy, biology, biotechnology, chemistry).
  • Experience :

  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in Sales or Business Development within the biopharmaceutical sector, with a focus on CDMO services.
  • Extensive knowledge of Drug Substance or Drug Product Manufacturing, Formulation Development, and GMP / non-GMP Analytical Services.
  • Skills :

  • Strong communication, networking, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to attract and maintain client relationships.
  • Certifications :

  • Relevant certifications in pharmaceutical or biotechnology fields are a plus but not required.
  • Knowledge :

  • In-depth understanding of biopharmaceutical industry trends, CDMO services, and technical solutions.
  • Key Competencies :

  • Results-driven with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective collaborator across cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Willingness to travel across the East Coast and other regions of the US as needed.
  • Fluency in English (additional languages such as German, Spanish, or French are advantageous).
