What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instructional Coach position at Searcy Public Schools?
QUALIFICATIONS :
Must hold proper state license
Must show proficiency in the Science of Reading
REPORTS TO :
Principal and / or other Supervisor
GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB :
An instructional coach has extensive knowledge and successful work in literacy and math in order to assist teachers and administrators in the curriculum, instruction, assessment, and organizational goals of the school and the district by providing collaboration, consulting, and coaching services. This person will act as a key member of the schools' instructional leadership team and work directly with the principals and other school administrators providing overall professional development to teachers through demonstration of lessons and modeling lessons.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
Accelerate positive change in the schools through collaborative relationships
Provide individual and team conferencing with individual teachers, grade-level teams, departments, and small groups across grade levels
Provide requested classroom observation and offer feedback for improvement
Reviews, recommends, and / or develops support materials to enhance learning and achievement that correlates with the district's High Quality Instructional Materials
Provide assistance with implementing and scoring assessments
Assist in collecting and analyzing data for increasing student achievement
Provide information (documents, meeting, and responses to phone calls) for parents and community members about increasing student achievement
Participate in all required staff meetings and curricular meetings
Complete reports, memos, documentation, and other necessary paperwork in a timely and professional manner
Provides presentations and workshops to small and large groups of teachers to accelerate the use of exemplary instructional practices to improve student achievement
Performs other work related to school-based professional development as requested
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
Knowledge of the Science of Reading
Knowledge of district High Quality Instructional Materials (example : Wit & Wisdom, iReady, etc.)
Skill in oral and written communication
Skill in providing coaching and consultative services to school staff
Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of existing programs and make recommendations for improvement
Ability to navigate data including ATLAS assessment data
Ability to work and communicate with diverse groups
Ability to develop and conduct presentations
Ability to use computer-driven spreadsheets and other computer programs
Ability to effectively express ideas orally and in writing
