Reports To: Inventory Control Supervisor by way of the Warehouse Supervisor

FUNCTION
The function of the Material Coordinator is responsible for the management and monitoring of material inventories. They will ensure that inventory movements and counts are performed accurately.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
Objectives of Inventory Management:
  • Use of best internal customer service.
  • Assisting in maintaining aspects of storage costs (space, personnel, and equipment).
  • Maintaining material flow processes throughout the warehouse.
Operational Inventory Accuracy:
  • Aiding in counting and maintain inventory accuracy continually throughout the year.
  • Assisting in cycle counts of selected items. Ensuring that all items are counted a predetermined number of times a year, depending on their importance.
  • Ability to detect and determine inventory inaccuracies.
  • Coordination of movement of material throughout the facility to ensure there is little or no loss of production.
Warehouse Optimization (Internal /External):
  • Ensuring warehouse operations are streamlined within plantwide production.
  • Execution of predetermined organization by value stream, flow-oriented layouts, locations by consumption, storage areas and packaging quantity optimization, visual management and standardization, daily operation control, and safety/ergonomics.
  • Ensure housekeeping is upkept in storage locations.
  • Responsible for prevention and loss or damage of plant inventory and company properties.
Materials Duties:
  • Assist in leading and mentoring both hourly and salary employees on adherence to the Mixed Model Flow as laid out by Material Flow Team related to inventory processes, procedures, and strategies.
  • Coordination of kitting procedures for assembly lines.
  • Ensure that parts are presented to assembly lines at the right time.
  • Assist in answering corrective action for the Material Flow department.
  • Exercise independent judgement
  • Interpret union contract on a frequent basis.
  • Support with the monthly inventory adjustment meetings
  • Assist with the development and implementation of goals and plans of action consistent with company objectives.

Reports To: Inventory Control Supervisor by way of the Warehouse Supervisor.

Coordinates or works with: Other Departments

Education and/or Experience
  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Requires one to three years of scheduling experience or equivalent experience in a manufacturing setting.

The employee must frequently lift and or move up to 10lbs; occasionally exert up to 50lbs of force to move objects.
The visual requirement of this job is similar to those classified as clerical or administrative.

Equipment and Tools
  • Ability to proficiently operate office equipment, including computer, printer, calculator, fax machine, copy machine, and multi-line telephone.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Outlook, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint).
