SUMMARY: Serves guests quickly, efficiently and with complete knowledge of food and beverage menus. Offers superior customer service and maintains their station in a clean and orderly manner throughout shift.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide great customer service to restaurant patrons by anticipating guests’ needs
- Upsell and make recommendations to guests based on in house specials and other variables
- Maintain a positive and friendly attitude while greeting and working with customers
- Communicate with the team and kitchen staff clearly and effectively in writing and verbally
- Capable of ensuring cleanliness of restaurant including but not limited to vacuuming, cleaning tables, and rearranging tables
- Ability to take orders accurately, efficiently and clearly and deliver food and drinks in a timely manner
- Assist with decorating tables for special occasions, help customers to their seats and assist kitchen staff when necessary
- Must maintain knowledge of available wine and liquor, food specials, and menu item specifications
- Deliver checks and collect payments
- Take guest complaints and follow up with a solution in a timely manner
- Ability to handle multiple tables during busy rush hours
- Come to work on time and in uniform
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Listed below are the qualifications that represent the knowledge, skills, and/or ability to perform this job successfully:
- Must provide prompt and cordial service to all guests
- Working knowledge of, or the ability to learn, point-of-sale computer systems, specifically MICROS
- Must be reliable, responsible and able to work well under pressure
- Ability to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions
- Apply critical thinking to solve problems in standardized situations
- Must be able to work independently
- Must be at least 18 years of age
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- 1-2 years of experience as a server
- Resort and/or hospitality experience preferred
- High school diploma or equal to a GED
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Must speak and communicate in English
- Must be able to clearly communicate with guests, management and coworkers
COMPUTER SKILLS
- Proficient in POS system required
CERTIFICATES & LICENSES
- Must have Food Handler Certificate
- TIPs certification required
- Must provide valid document(s) to work in the US.
- Valid California Driver License is required
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to:
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision
- Lift 25-50 lbs.
- Stand and walk for long periods of time
