What are the responsibilities and job description for the 6th/7th Grade RLA Teacher 2025 - 2026 position at Seashore Charter Schools?
Seashore Middle Academy is looking for a certified teacher who provides students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the classroom to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. He/She enables students to develop competencies and life skills to function successfully in society, and carry out Seashore Charter Schools’ mission of academic excellence.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s Degree from accredited university
· Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements
· Understanding of elementary Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS)
· General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
· Ability to instruct students and utilize strong classroom management strategies
· Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
· Must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting check prior to starting employment. Non- refundable fee paid by applicant.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of SMA’s curriculum program.
· Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
· Present subject matter according to guidelines established by TEA, board policies, and
administrative guidelines.
· Work cooperatively with administrators, team leaders, specialists, and other staff as needed to
meet curriculum objectives and further the mission of Seashore Charter Schools and the Island
Foundation.
· Work cooperatively with the Special Education Director and Teaching Assistants to adapt
curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in
Individualized Education Plans (IEP).
· Create a classroom environment where cooperative learning strategies are implemented.
· Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
· Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and Student
Handbook.
· Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and
facilities.
· Assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials, including technology.
· Establish, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other
documents required.
· Attend and participate in faculty meetings, and serve on staff committees as required.
· Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills, and maintain valid Texas teaching certificate.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS – TEACHERS
Maintain emotional control under stress. Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
SALARY: 12-month teacher salary contract. MINIMUM WORK DAYS: 181

SMA serves 240 students grades 5-8 from North Padre Island, Flour Bluff, Mustang Island, and NAS Corpus Christi.
