Seaside Health System is seeking a part-time Utilization Review-LPN in our Baton Rouge Inpatient Hospital. Successful candidate is an individual who value clinical excellence, integrity and treating patients and colleagues with dignity and respect.
Requirements:
- One year or more work experience in a psych/mental health/behavioral health facility preferred but not required.
- Current Louisiana state license required
- Active listening skills and empathy for patients.
- Mature, professional, and positive attitude.
- Strong oral and written communication skills including the ability to set boundaries, use and interpret nonverbal ques.
- Emotional Intelligence including the ability to manage stress and anxiety, knows when to ask for help and how to be a reliable colleague.
- Critical thinking including the ability to implement interventions that are proven to result in a positive outcome for patients.
Responsibilities may include:
- Reviews patient information upon admission and submit clinicals to external insurance companies to obtain precertification in a timely manner. Responsible for updating Medik daily with all authorizations, denials, and any important notes.
- Monitors information that is copied and sent per request to insurance companies for inpatient and assures only the required information is disseminated.
- Available for on-call as needed.
- Fax or call-in all discharge clinicals to insurance companies in a timely manner.
- Assists patients with Medicaid Applications.
- Updates UR Logs daily.
- Contacts Physicians, nurses, social services, and other appropriate staff regarding potential problems or questions related to documentation of patient care issues.
