Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our occupational and speech therapy clinic. The ideal candidate will support clinicians in providing high-quality care to our patients, assist with both clinical and administrative tasks, and contribute to the smooth operation of the clinic. This role is essential in ensuring that our patients receive exceptional care in a supportive and organized environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care: Assist in preparing patients, particularly children, for therapy sessions, documenting patient history, and monitoring vital signs when necessary. Support occupational and speech therapists during therapy sessions by setting up equipment and materials and ensuring patient comfort.
- Clinical Support: Maintain therapy rooms, ensure equipment and materials are clean and ready for use, and assist in the preparation and execution of therapeutic activities. Handle routine laboratory tasks as needed, such as collecting specimens or administering basic tests.
- Administrative Duties: Schedule therapy appointments, manage patient records with accuracy, process billing and insurance claims, and handle general office duties, including phone reception and patient check-ins. Ensure all documentation is completed and organized in the electronic health records (EHR) system.
- Patient and Family Education: Provide patients and their families with instructions on therapy exercises, home programs, and follow-up care. Educate patients on the benefits and expectations of therapy services.
- Collaboration: Work closely with occupational and speech therapists to support patient care plans, assist with patient progress tracking, and coordinate referrals and follow-up appointments as needed. Facilitate communication between clinicians and patients to ensure a seamless care experience.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a certified Medical Assistant program preferred.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA) is a plus.
- Previous experience as a Medical Assistant in a therapy clinic or similar healthcare setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with occupational and/or speech therapy practices and terminology is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in using electronic health records (EHR) and medical office software.
- Excellent communication skills with a patient-centered approach.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work efficiently in a dynamic environment.
- Compassionate, empathetic, and committed to supporting patients of all ages, especially pediatric populations.
- Must be able to pass a drug, background and nicotine test.
Work Schedule:
- Our clinic is open from 7:30 to 6:00 Monday-Friday
