Pilgrim Area Collaborative is a public educational collaborative that serves students with a wide range of disabilities from primary through post-secondary levels from all over the South Shore.

 

We have an anticipated vacancy for a Special Education Teacher to work in our elementary program located in North Plymouth.  Our elementary classrooms are small and provide therapeutic programing for students in grades K-6 who are experiencing significant social, emotional and/or behavioral difficulties. The goal of placement is to assist students in re-establishing and maintaining typical student responsibilities such as: consistent school attendance, appropriate emotional regulation, effective interpersonal skills, and consistent completion of school work.  Our school offers students an opportunity for psychological, academic, and personal growth.

 

This is an anticipated elementary school position in our social-emotional/behavioral program to start the 2025-26 School Year.

 

Well-qualified candidates must have appropriate Massachusetts certification in Special Education and experience with students dealing with social emotional disabilities and/or high functioning ASD. There is an optional ESY Program for summer employment as well. 

 

This is a full-time position to start August 25, 2025. 

 

Performance Responsibilities:

1. Meets and instructs assigned classes in location and at a time designated.

2. Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.

3. Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of PAC Executive Director.

4. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.

5. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the needs and capabilities of the individual student group involved.

6. Strives to implement by instruction and action the Collaborative’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.

7. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

8. Evaluates student progress on a regular basis.

9. Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, Collaborative policy, and  administrative regulation.

10. Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and Board policy.

11. Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.

12. Attends and participates in faculty meetings.

13. Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives and methods.

14. Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.

15. Accepts a share of the responsibility for co curricular activities as assigned.

16. Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the academic and behavioral progress.

17. Establishes and maintains cooperative working relations with others.

18. Provides for his/her own professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced course work at institutions of higher learning.

19. Any and all other duties to fulfill responsibilities as Teacher of Special Needs.

 

Terms of Employment:

 

Salary, benefits and work year subject to the prevailing Agreement Between the Pilgrim Area Collaborative Professional Staff Association and Board of Directors.
