Seasonal Customer Support Associate (Heavy Labor Focus)

The Seasonal Customer Support Associate plays a critical role in supporting customers while handling physically demanding tasks in a fast-paced, outdoor retail environment. This position requires frequent heavy lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of plants, soil, and other productsoften up to 50 lbs or more. Team members must be prepared to work on their feet for their shift, in varied weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain. This is an active, labor-intensive position that requires stamina, strength, and a willingness to tackle physically demanding tasks daily.

Key Responsibilities

• Customer Support & Carry-Out Assistance

  • Assist customers by answering questions, helping them select products, and carrying heavy purchases to their vehicles.
  • Load and unload shipments, which may include plants, soil, hard goods, and other merchandise.
  • Resolve customer concerns when possible and escalate issues to management as needed.

• Physical Labor & Maintenance

  • Unload, move, and stock large quantities of inventory, often requiring heavy lifting, pushing, and pulling.
  • Maintain the nursery and retail areas by sweeping, removing trash, weeding, and cleaning restrooms.
  • Replenish and restock bags, boxes, shelves, and product displays to ensure a well-stocked and visually appealing retail space.

• Teamwork & Communication

  • Work closely with co-workers and management to ensure smooth operations.
  • Maintain and operate tools and equipment safely, reporting any issues to management.
  • Continue developing plant and product knowledge to assist customers effectively.

Qualifications & Experience

• Prior experience in a physically demanding retail, warehouse, or garden center environment preferred.
• Experience handling both indoor and outdoor plants is a plus.

Required Skills & Physical Demands

• Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs regularly and stand/walk for long hours.
• Comfortable working in outdoor conditions, including extreme temperatures and inclement weather.
• Strong work ethic, dependability, and ability to work independently in a high-energy, physically strenuousenvironment.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and maintain focus in a fast-paced setting.
• Willingness to work overtime and additional hours during peak seasons.
• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Ability to use and maintain required safety equipment as necessary.
