Position Summary
The Development Officer is a part of the Development team, performing a wide range of fundraising activities to help
maximize financial support for the mission and vision of Seasons Hospice. The Development Officer will identify, cultivate,
solicit, and steward major gift prospects and donors to support the organization's annual and long-term fundraising
goals.
Position Qualifications
- Education and Training:
o Required: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, or a minimum of three years’ of
experience in a related professional role
- Experience:
o Required: Three or more years of experience in a professional development or fundraising role, sales,
recruiting, or similar position
o Preferred: Familiarity working with donor management systems/CRM’s
o Preferred: Previous work experience in a hospice setting or an understanding of the hospice philosophy
of care
- License or Certification:
o Required: Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
o Preferred: Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) preferred
Position Duties and Responsibilities
- Donor Cultivation and Relationship Management:
o Identify and cultivate relationships with individuals, regional businesses, corporations, foundations, and
other potential donors who have an interested in supporting the Homestead Hospice House as well as
home-based hospice care and end-of-life services.
o Build rapport with donors, engaging them in the mission and work of the hospice organization through
personalized communication, meetings, events, and donor recognition opportunities.
- Fundraising Campaigns and Appeals:
o Develop and execute fundraising campaigns, appeals, and initiatives to solicit gifts, donations, and
sponsorships in support of hospice programs, services, and special projects.
o Collaborate with marketing and communications team members to create compelling fundraising
materials, including direct mail appeals, email campaigns, social media posts, and website content.
- Major Gifts and Planned Giving:
o Cultivate relationships with major donors and planned giving prospects, stewarding them through the
donor lifecycle from identification and cultivation to solicitation and stewardship.
o Work closely with donors and their advisors to facilitate major gifts, bequests, charitable annuities, trusts,
and other planned giving arrangements to benefit the hospice organization.
- Donor Stewardship and Recognition:
o Implement stewardship strategies to recognize and thank donors for their generosity, including
personalized acknowledgments, donor appreciation events, recognition societies, and impact reports.
o Ensure timely and accurate gift acknowledgment, tracking, and reporting in accordance with donor
preferences, IRS regulations, and organizational policies.
- Database Management and Reporting:
o Maintain accurate donor records, contact information, and giving history in the donor database (CRM
system), ensuring data integrity, confidentiality, and compliance with privacy regulations.
o Generate regular reports, analytics, and metrics to track fundraising progress, analyze donor trends,
and evaluate the effectiveness of fundraising strategies and campaigns.
- Collaboration and Coordination:
o Collaborate with fundraising team members, board members, volunteers, and staff from other
departments to coordinate fundraising activities, events, and initiatives aligned with organizational
goals and priorities.
o Provide support and guidance to volunteer fundraisers, board committees, and community partners
engaged in fundraising efforts on behalf of the hospice organization.

professionals.
