Faculty will teach part-time in a wide range of Dental Hygiene courses. Successful applicants will have the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, staff and others in a campus climate that promotes cultural diversity and multicultural understanding in an urban environment. Under the supervision of the Executive Dean--Healthcare and Human Services, the Part-time Adjunct Faculty in the Dental Hygiene Program will be responsible for teaching assigned dental hygiene didactic and/or clinical courses. Specific assignments will be dependent on the instructor's background and quarterly curriculum scheduling. Part-time Adjunct Faculty must possess, at a minimum, a Washington dental hygiene license and in the process of completing a master's degree in the field or related field. Specific teaching assignments will be dependent on the instructor's background and scheduling. Successful applicants may be invited to teach at Seattle Central College. Candidates should be willing to teach in a variety of formats such as in-class, hybrid, online and varied class times including days, evenings, and weekends according to program needs. This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with representation by AFT-Seattle. Demonstrated ability and commitment to teach multiple levels of on the topic of study. Current unencumbered Registered Dental Hygienist with Washington State license or eligibility for licensure Process of completing master's degree in dental hygiene or relevant field Willingness to teach in a variety of formats and varied clinical settings according to program needs Candidates should be willing to teach in a variety of formats such as face-to-face, online, or hybrid as needed. Ability to use distance education technology effectively Strong verbal, written, and oral communication abilities A demonstrated commitment to working within a college community that is diverse and serves students from a broad spectrum of socioeconomic and academic backgrounds. Innovative teaching methods including the use of technology and collaborative learning. Prepare and teach classes to a diverse student population Work effectively independently as well as part of a team Promote student success by participating in and creating a safe, welcoming student-centered learning environment Manage classroom environments with a broad range of cultures, languages, and skill levels Implement assessment strategies for program and school student learning outcomes Commit to self-reflection and continuous learning Respect, embrace, and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion The ability to work collaboratively with others in a professional setting. Teach classes and perform professional responsibilities as outlined in the AFT Seattle Local 1789 and the Seattle Community Colleges Board of Trustees Collective Bargaining Agreement Physical Requirements: The Position: typically works in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office. encounters frequent interruptions throughout the workday. is regularly required to provide 1:1 support, present to small groups, and work at a computer exercising repetitive hand motion with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to perform a range of physical motions, exerting up to 25 pounds; lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds; standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time, kneeling, squatting, and stooping; and traversing up and down stairs.
