What are the responsibilities and job description for the Music Teacher position at Seattle Children's Music Academy?
Company Description
Seattle Children’s Music Academy partners with local preschools to provide engaging, professionally-led music lessons designed for young children. SCMA's mission is to inspire creativity, build musical foundations, and foster a love for music through fun and interactive experiences. Our curriculum introduces children to a variety of instruments and musical concepts through hands-on activities.
Role Description
This is a part-time, on-site Music Teacher role located in Seattle, WA at Seattle Children’s Music Academy. In the roll of 'Music Teacher', you will be responsible for leading engaging music lessons tailored to young children, teaching rhythm exploration, tonal training, instrument discovery, group play, and song creation on a weekly basis.
Hours
Your work hours will be determined by the number of schools you are assigned to and the enrollment at each location. Lessons at our partnered schools are 30 minutes long, and the number of lessons you teach per day will depend on the number of enrolled children.
Per Washington State law, the required adult-to-child ratio is 1:10. For example, if a school has 40 enrolled children, you will teach four 30-minute sessions, totaling 2 hours at that location.
Pay
At Seattle Children’s Music Academy, we value your time and talent—that’s why we offer up to $100 an hour for our instructors. Instead of working an entire 8-hour shift at a minimum wage job (earning around $130 before taxes in Washington State), you could make the same amount—or more—in just a couple of hours with us!
For example:
✅ Teach for 2 hours at one of our partnered schools = Up to $200
✅ Work just 4 hours a day = Up to $400
✅ That’s 3x what you’d make in an 8-hour shift at a minimum wage job!
This is the perfect opportunity for students, musicians, or anyone looking for flexible, high-paying work without committing to long shifts. You get to share your love of music, inspire young minds, and earn great money—all while working fewer hours!
If you’re looking for a way to maximize your earnings while doing something rewarding, this is the job for you!
