Postdoctoral Fellow - Coler Lab

Seattle Children's
Seattle, WA Full Time
POSTED ON 1/27/2025
AVAILABLE BEFORE 2/26/2025
There is strong evidence that underrepresentation is an important problem that the health research enterprise must address (see Women, Minorities and Persons With Disabilities in Science and Engineering). Fostering diversity by addressing underrepresentation in the research workforce is consistent with Seattle Children’s vision and values.

A fully supported Postdoctoral Scholar position is available in the *Seattle Tuberculosis Research Advancement Center (SEATRAC) to characterize immune response of novel vaccines and immune pathology associated with tuberculosis and co-morbidities. Previous experience in cellular immunology, including multiparametric flow cytometry, is required. This Postdoctoral position provides the time, funding, mentorship, experience and training necessary to foster the early career development of the next generation of researchers.

The postdoctoral fellow will receive funding, focused mentoring, experience and training in laboratory and clinical settings and will develop expertise in the assessment of vaccine mediated immune responses and systems immunology. A key aspect will include combining information from multiple levels such as genes, proteins, and whole cells to gain a clear, multi-scale understanding of vaccine function during infection and disease. The fellowship is designed to prepare the post-doctoral level trainee for a career in a non-profit biotechnology- and multidisciplinary setting. The objective of this postdoctoral position at Seattle Children’s Research Institute is to support promising researchers from backgrounds recognized as Underrepresented in the Extramural Scientific Workforce. This includes, but is not limited to, individuals from racial and ethnic groups that have been shown by the National Science Foundation to be underrepresented in health-related sciences on a national basis. The following racial and ethnic groups have been shown to be underrepresented in biomedical research: Blacks or African Americans, Hispanics or Latinos, American Indians or Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, and other Pacific Islanders”.
