Title : Research Scientist III Duties : Responsible for process development, assay development and optimization, as well as other activities needed for optimizing preclinical gene therapy Investigation New Drug (IND)-enabling studies to facilitate Phase I first-in-human clinical trials. Design, execute and interpret experiments to develop and query new cell and gene therapies. Develop, execute, and optimize in vitro assays to determine the efficacy of a therapy using varied cell biology techniques. Design, execute, interpret, and document preclinical IND studies, including contributing to writing Study Reports. Contribute to the documentation of protocols following Good Laboratory Practice regulation, including authoring and reviewing Standard Operating Procedures. Contribute to the preparation of manuscripts, patents, and data packages as requested by external partners. Requires : 1) Master’s degree in Biotechnology, Biology or a directly related scientific field, or the foreign degree equivalent; and, 2) Three (3) years of experience in a GMP research related position, which includes 2 years of experience in each of the following : - Contributing to the planning, design, execution and interpretation of process optimization experiments (process development and / or assay development). - Supporting the preparation of reports, regulatory submissions, and drafting of standard operating procedures for novel techniques. - Assisting with the development of manufacturing technologies for viral vectors, nucleic acids, and proteins to be produced in a VectorWorks GMP manufacturing facility. - Design, execute and interpret process development experiments to optimize manufacturing methods for biological medicines or precursors. - Assisting with the technical transfer to manufacturing staff, capital equipment specification, QC assay development, and other activities as needed for enabling GMP manufacturing activities. - Development of new and improved assays to evaluate the quality and potency of biological therapeutics or their precursors. Experience may be gained concurrently. Location : Full-time employment in Seattle, WA. Salary : The compensation range of $78,735 to $118,103 per year for this position was calculated based on FTE.
