North Seattle College is looking to hire an Arabic speaking bilingual Student Support Specialist in Early Childhood Education.

Salary Range for this position is $58,632 to $80,968

Opportunity is open until filled, first review of materials will begin February, 28th, 2025

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Early Childhood Education Associate Director of Early Childhood Initiatives, the Bilingual Student Support Specialist will be responsible for providing advising support to ECE students and prospective students taking classes in the Arabic language. This will include outreach, ed plans, CTC link navigation, registration and funding support to ensure students can access all services at North Seattle College.

This position is full-time, working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, primarily 9am-6pm with occasional evenings and weekends as needed.

This position works a hybrid schedule of both remote and on-site work, with an expectation of three on campus days per week.

This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with representation by AFT SPS

Essential Functions

What you will be working on:

  • Respond to prospective student inquiries for ECE programs in students home languages
  • Advise students on certificate, associate degree and BAS pathways
  • Work with Associate Program manager and Language Cohort manager to enroll linguistically diverse Early Achievers scholars
  • Support students who to secure funding in workforce education or FAFSA
  • Collaborate with the ECE team to develop student supports in student home languages including tutoring and video tutorials
  • Facilitate information sessions for prospective students in student home languages
  • Facilitate group and drop-in advising sessions for current students
  • Work with campus services like TRiO, Workforce Education and the Opportunity Center to connect linguistically diverse students with resources
  • Collaborate with other colleges offering ECE classes in other languages
  • Related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What you bring as a candidate:

  • Oral and Written fluency in a non-English language
  • Knowledge of Early Childhood Education common courses and degree pathways
  • Associate Degree or higher in education or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience supporting students through higher education
