Opportunity Description
South Seattle College is looking to hire a part-time Office Assistant in the Basic & Transitional Studies (BTS) department.
The salary range for this position is $43,812.00 - $46,968.00 annually. The typical starting rate is $43,812.00 - $44,832.00 annually (DOE).

Position Summary
This position is 20 hours a week with a split shift [morning and evening]. Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Office Assistant 2 will be responsible for a variety of receptionist duties including responding to email, text messages, phone call and in-person inquiries from students, staff, faculty, campus partners, and the general community. Ability to use Word to create multi-lingual flyers and manage large Excel spreadsheets. This position is also responsible for a variety of clerical duties including data collection, data entry, supply inventory, and general recordkeeping. Finally, the position supports the BTS student enrollment process including providing information on our intake process, registering students for the intake orientation, enrolling students in the classes and assisting with tuition waivers.
This position works 100% of the time on-site on campus.
This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with representation by WFSE and is subject to union shop provisions.

What You Will Be Working On
- Answers routine inquiries in-person, on the phone, via the BTS text messaging system or via email with population whose primary native language is not English.
- Assists with routine filing, copying, preparing mailings, and other routine office tasks.
- Assists with collection and entry of routine student enrollment data or other data required for grant reporting, strategic planning or other BTS processes. Also, interacts with faculty, other staff and division dean.
- Assists with the student registration process including processing student applications, enrolling students in classes, preparing class rosters using CTCLink and/ or complicated Excel worksheets.
What You Bring As a Candidate
- High school graduation or equivalent
- Ability to use Microsoft Office applications with strong emphasis on Word documents and Excel worksheets
- Must be a self-starter with attention to details
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Minimum one year of office experience
- Working knowledge of college software [CTCLink, PeopleSoft is preferred]
- Fluency in a language(s) other than English preferred
