Position Summary
To assist the Event Services Department in successfully fulfilling the needs of the clients for each event, related to moving into ("move-in") and out of ("move-out") the facilities. Ensure safe and easy access to the facilities for clients and guests and maintain a smooth flow of vehicular and pedestrian traffic in the vehicle loading area, truck ramp, loading dock, loading dock platform, and parking garage, as needed related to hand carried freight (HCF)/small vehicle delivery, and operate the freight elevator, as needed, for event "move-in" and "move-out".
This is an On-Call position, meaning there is no guarantee of how often you will work. Shifts are assigned based on event activity, seniority, and your own reported availability. Shifts may be scheduled any time during the day, nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Greet guests in a friendly, service-oriented manner
- Check credentials of exhibitors entering the facilities via loading areas
- Monitor and control vehicular traffic flow in the loading areas of the facilities
- Control traffic, issue hand carts and distribute appropriate parking permits to exhibitors using Hand Carried Freight entrances and loading docks
- Monitor use of passenger load zones, queue vehicles, and advise drivers of rules relating to traffic management in and around the facilities
- Operate freight elevators between various load-in and exhibit areas
- Provide directions and general information about downtown Seattle and marshalling yards used during events
- Respond to questions and inquiries about daily move-in/move-out activities in the SCC; use strong customer service skills while maintaining tight schedules for traffic flow
- React calmly and productively in various situations and respond to multiple questions and inquiries in a professional, pleasant manner
- Act upon concerns and/or complaints from guests (referring them to the appropriate supervisor when necessary)
- Maintain a team-oriented, working relationship and communicate effectively with co-workers, subcontractors, clients, and guests
- Effectively use a two-way radio for communication with various departments within SCC

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and outside weather conditions. Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience assisting with traffic flow, including queuing vehicles
- Experience in a service or hospitality environment
