Position Summary: We are seeking a diligent Forklift Operator to join our team in the dynamic and challenging environment of our sandblasting and painting facility. This role is pivotal in maintaining the flow of materials through our system, ensuring efficiency, safety, and adherence to production schedules. The Forklift Operator will be instrumental in handling a variety of materials, coordinating with the production team, and contributing to our commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
Please note: Your employment will be through a temp agency (Express Employment) for the initial 2 months. Upon successful completion of your tenure with the temp agency, you will be offered a permanent position with our organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Material Handling: Safely transport materials of various shapes, sizes, and weights throughout the facility. This includes loading and unloading materials from storage areas, production lines, and vehicles using forklifts, hand trucks, or other handling equipment.
- Loading and Unloading Trucks: Carefully load and unload trucks, ensuring the correct materials are moved according to schedule. Verify that the paperwork matches the materials being loaded or offloaded to maintain inventory accuracy and prevent discrepancies.
- Coordination and Planning: Receive and interpret work assignments from supervisory staff, identifying necessary materials and equipment. Execute tasks in a manner that maximizes productivity and minimizes disruptions.
- Safety and Housekeeping: Maintain a clean and safe work environment by performing general housekeeping duties. Adhere to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment and proper handling techniques.
- Communication: Report any issues related to material quality or equipment functionality to supervisory staff promptly to avoid production delays or quality issues. Work closely with the team to ensure smooth operations.
Requirements:
- Work Environment Adaptability: Ability to work in all weather conditions. Commitment to safety standards is a must.
- Physical Requirements: This role demands significant physical activity, including lifting (up to 75 pounds), climbing, balancing, and maneuvering materials.
- Experience and Licensing: At least two years of experience as a forklift operator in an industrial setting is preferred. A Certified Forklift Operator license is also preferred.
- Education: A high school diploma or its equivalent is favored, though not mandatory.
Work Schedule:
- Monday to Friday 6am – 2:30pm
- Flexibility for overtime, night, and weekend work is required as per business needs.
