We are currently looking for a Lead Academic Preschool Teacher to join our classroom. Lead Teachers are responsible for:
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Maintains student files, assessments, Brightwheel and Parent communication
- Collaborates with Preschool Director on curriculum planning
- Collaborates with Member Services about enrollment
- Regularly meets with Director regarding program implementation
- Schedules and leads tours and Open Houses for prospective families
- Discusses student’s behavior and progress with parents
- Take advantage of continued educational opportunities
- Works with Director to hire additional staff as needed
- Supervises Teachers and provides regular feedback regarding performance
Classroom Responsibilities:
- Follows Seattle Preschool's & Seattle Gymnastics Academy's Mission, Vision and Values
- Effectively implements curriculum
- Develops plans to promote each child's growth and development
- Develops and implements curricula and mentors staff under their supervision
- Provides appropriate materials and experiences which address the social, physical, emotional, and intellectual needs of each student
- Responsible for all aspects of the appearance, cleanliness, organization and management of classroom
- Demonstrates clear understanding of school policies and procedures
- Communicates effectively with parents
- Participates in National Gymnastics Day as well as Preschool focused conferences and training
- Handles classroom emergencies effectively
- Plans, leads and documents movement and gymnastics-based activities on the gym floor
- Interacts positively with children and parents
- Confidently operates away from supervision
- Orders equipment and supplies as needed
- Documents student learning, progress and participation
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
We are looking for:
- An Associate's degree or higher with college credits in Early Childhood Education and experience teaching preschool aged children; or
- 3 years of classroom experience with 2-6y or previous Lead Teacher experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication, creativity, leadership, and classroom management skills
- Willingness to work cooperatively with support staff
- STARS basic training credits
- Current CPR/First Aid on file
Physical Requirements:
- The ability to sit/stand for extended periods of time
- Good manipulation skills to operate computers and office equipment or perform training
- Hand-eye coordination
- Can lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance
- The ability to walk on uneven surfaces as is deemed necessary to walk out onto the gymnastics floor
