What are the responsibilities and job description for the Industrial Cleaner position at Seattle Housing Authority?
BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the general supervision of an Industrial Cleaner Supervisor or Trade Supervisor, perform heavy-duty tasks in common areas, vacated and occupied units in high rises, mid-rises, townhouses, scattered sites and garden community apartments.
Representative Duties & Essential Functions
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
E= Essential Functions
- Wash walls, ceilings, woodwork, floors, cabinets, and other surfaces in vacated apartments. E
- Basic Janitorial cleaning (Sweep, mop, and vacuuming floors, Wipe/sanitize surfaces, empty trash bins and dispose trash in proper receptacles, keep trash and recycle area clean, window cleaning, upkeep of all common areas including laundry rooms, replenish toiletries etc...)
- Perform industrial cleaning in units, including sanitizing the unit after a deceased body. E
- Fire clean up in a building or unit. E
- Strip, Wax, Scrub, Polish floors, including base coves, and Shampoo carpets and remove stains. E
- Attend all required training and safety meetings; use, maintain and replace assigned personal protective equipment; report all injuries and illnesses to supervisor immediately; complete and submit incident/accident reports as required; report hazardous conditions or unsafe work practices to supervisor; and follow all safety and health guidelines, practices, policies and procedures. Monitor and enforce the agency's Safety and Health Program and actively support and participate in Emergency Preparedness tasks. E
- May perform on-call and after-hours work. E

Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION:
No specified type or amount required.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience and/or training in the Industrial Cleaner trade.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Standard equipment of the Industrial Cleaner trade, including scrubbing machines and vacuum cleaners. Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License and a fully insurable driving record.
This is an FLSA Non-Exempt position covered by a collective bargaining agreement.
Competencies, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
KNOWLEDGE OF:
1. Knowledge of the standards, practices, and cleaning processes of the Industrial cleaner trade.
2. Knowledge of proper safety procedures for handling chemicals related to the Industrial Cleaner trade.
3. Basic knowledge of fire safety.
ABILITY TO:
1. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and maintain accurate records.
2. Ability to work harmoniously and respectfully with staff, residents, and the public.
3. Ability to safely perform the sustained physical requirements of the Industrial Cleaner trade, including work on ladders and platforms.
4. Ability to safely wear a half or full-face respirator without obstruction.
