At the Seattle Institute for Biomedical and Clinical Research (SIBCR), scientists seek new ways to improve the health and well-being of Veterans through research and education conducted at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System and Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center.

Summary:
The Clinical Research Assistant will work as a key team member on pulmonary studies based at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System Center of Innovation, including trials sponsored by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) and the American Lung Association Airways Clinical Research Centers (ACRC) – see below for links to these studies. This position requires an individual who understands the principles of scientific investigation and clinical trials and is capable of in-depth understanding of the study protocol. The candidate must possess strong scientific, organizational, and interpersonal skills. The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, with potential for hybrid in-person/telework after training period.
Responsibilities may include:
- Provide daily operational support
- Support recruitment, screening, enrollment, consent, and follow-up of clinical trial participants according to study protocols, including:
- reviewing medical charts for eligibility, outcomes, and adverse events
- conducting study visits
- administering questionnaires
- measuring vital signs including height, weight, and blood pressure
- timely and accurate data entry
- preparing participant mailings
- tracking study activities
- conducting and transcribing qualitative interviews
- Prepare/distribute meeting agendas and notes
- Assist with:
- Database and/or electronic data capture system maintenance
- Stakeholder and DSMB meeting preparation
- Report preparation
- Manual of Operations maintenance
Required Knowledge, Skill and Experience:
- BA/BS in scientific or health related field
- Human subjects/clinical trial research
- Outstanding organizational and communication skills
- Keen attention to detail
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
- Research compliance regulations
- Microsoft Office applications
Desirable Knowledge, Skill and Experience:
- Electronic medical record systems
- Electronic data capture systems, e.g. REDCap, Qualtrics
- Clinical health care
