On December 4, 2018, the NHL granted the 32nd NHL franchise to Seattle Hockey Partners. Two years later, we revealed the Seattle Kraken brand to the world. As the newest addition to the Pacific Division in the Western Conference, the Kraken continues to prepare for its first puck drop in the 2021-2022 NHL season. In addition to the redevelopment of Climate Pledge Arena, Seattle Kraken are consecutively building their front office headquarters and training facility with three NHL regulation rinks at the Kraken Ice Centre at Northgate. This development represents not only further investment in making Seattle the epicenter of the Pacific Northwest but establishing a skating presence within the city for the first time in more than 40 years.
The Role:
Seattle Kraken are seeking a best-in-class designer to join their creative team!
This role will be responsible for crafting innovative and compelling design solutions across a number of mediums to support all facets of the organization. They will conceive, design, and develop high-quality creative that pushes the Kraken brand forward.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support Art Director in trend research, developing concepts and implementing designs to provide creative solutions that meets business objectives.
- Partner with Brand Manager to ensure copy and visuals are working harmoniously together for a clear and consistent brand experience.
- Create assets for omnichannel marketing campaigns, including digital, display, email, social, print, mobile and OOH.
- Manage a calendar of design projects and requests from internal stakeholders and deliver exceptional customer service cross functionally.
- Manage printer and vendor relationships as needed.
- Clearly communicate and present ideas through visuals.
- Communicate with key stakeholders across departments to help meet business goals and ensure designs implemented align with company’s initiatives
- Understand the brand, voice, and audience to produce visuals that inspire our constituents and tell the brand story
- Ensure brand use and consistent across all creative.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
- Three or more years of professional experience working in the field of graphic design.
- Proven experience creating best-in-class design.
- Experience in creative ideation through full execution across a broad range of media.
- Highly collaborative but willing to have and to defend a strategic and creative POV.
- Ability to conceptualize and utilize existing template and stock art media.
- A strong eye for layout, typography, composition, and color.
- An experienced multi-tasker that is not intimidated by the thought of juggling multiple projects and tasks at once in a fast-paced work environment while still maintaining a high level of creativity.
- Must be a self-starter able to coordinate resources and responsibilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an expert ability to present and communicate new ideas and concepts.
- A high degree of personal integrity and consistently put the interests of the organization first.
Preferred Experience & Qualifications:
- Motion design is a bonus, but not a must!
- Experience in fast-paced environments.
- Passion and knowledge of hockey and sports.
Working Conditions:
- Minimal Travel (<10% travel): May be required to travel. Trips may require air travel and/or overnight stay away from home for one or more nights.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends, nights and holidays required.
- Frequent bending, lifting 15-20 pounds, sitting, exposure to multiple external elements, extensive walking through the building including inclines and stairs.
