Position Description
The Seattle Police Department is seeking a highly motivated, dynamic, customer focused, detail-orientated Administrative Specialist II to help lead the Auto Theft Team.
The Auto Theft Team operates 7 days a week, 2 shifts from 7:00am – 3:30pm and 2:00pm – 11:30pm. This position provides customer service to individuals by phone regarding SPD impounded and/or stolen vehicles and recoveries. Record and process information received from tow companies and financial institutions concerning impounded or repossessed vehicles pursuant to city and state laws. Process police record information for all vehicles stolen and/or recovered within the city of Seattle. Data entry impounds/repossessed vehicle information into SPD TOWS system. Initiate the dispatch of officers to recover stolen vehicles from tow yards.

The full salary range for this position is $33.40 - $37.40 per hour. New employees begin at Step 1 of the pay progression, which is $33.40 hourly. Current City employees’ starting rate of pay will be based on Personnel Rules regarding promotions. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) regular position with full benefits. This is a Civil Service position eligible for overtime.

Job Responsibilities
- Work in partnership with the Unit Supervisor to ensure team cohesiveness.
- Provide quality customer service to individuals, law enforcement detectives, officers, court personnel, tow companies, and vehicle repossession companies.
- Interpret information from computer systems generated by tow companies, courts, police data systems, and outside agencies.
- Audit, Review and process vehicle related records, researching to find correct data and/or documents as necessary.
- Perform file maintenance functions as needed.
- Maintain security of work area and of confidential police files.
- Train new as well as existing staff.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by Administrative Support Supervisor or Records Manager.
Required Qualifications:

- Ability to keep abreast of the changing laws, new technology and procedures which directly affect daily tasks
- Ability to communicate clearly in written and oral communications
- Ability to deal with the public and Department personnel in a professional and courteous manner through strong customer service skills
- Experience training employees and completing daily training records
- Experience answering multi-line phones
- Experience with Microsoft Outlook, voicemail and intermediate skills in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Knowledge of police functions, procedures, computer techniques and codes.
- Knowledgeable in use of the law enforcement and criminal justice computer systems, such as TOPS/CMA, TOWS, OMNIXX, RMS, CAD.
- Obtain Washington Criminal Information Center (WACIC) and National Criminal Information Center (NCIC) certification within 6 months of employment.
- Pass a Seattle Police Department Background Investigation.
- Must perform work on-site. No remote work option is available for this position.
