About The Position
Seattle Rep is seeking a skilled draftsperson to join the Production Department. In this role, you will be responsible for creating precise technical drawings and plans for our stage productions, ensuring that all designs meet the artistic vision and technical requirements of the design team. You will collaborate closely with designers, directors, and production staff to translate creative concepts into detailed schematics that guide the construction and installation process of our productions.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in theatrical design, excellent CAD skills, and a keen eye for detail.

About The Position
Seattle Rep is seeking a skilled draftsperson to join the Production Department. You will collaborate closely with designers, directors, and production staff to translate creative concepts into detailed schematics that guide the construction and installation process of our productions.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in theatrical design, excellent CAD skills, and a keen eye for detail.
Typical Duties Include
Creating Technical Drawings:
- Translate scenic theatrical designs into technical drawings and plans for stage productions
- Produce accurate floorplans, elevations, and construction details for production elements
- Ensure all designs comply with safety regulations, physics, and technical standards
- Work closely with designers, directors, and production staff to ensure designs meet artistic and technical requirements
- Partner with Scenic Director to engineer technical designs of scenic elements
- Make necessary revisions to drawings based on feedback from the production team
- Maintain detailed records and documentation of all drawings and revisions
- Regularly use these drawings to collaborate with Head Shop Carpenter and scenic shop staff to produce scenery
- Verbally explain drawings in order to alleviate confusion and answer questions
- Attend production meetings when requested to ensure elements are meeting the needs of the shows
- Work with Procurement Specialist to order material for scenic builds
- Finalize and archive scenic drafting and other scenic files once they are no longer active
- Attend Production Department meetings when requested
- Consult on shop and theater maintenance and upgrades
- Other duties as assigned

- Demonstrated skill with CAD drafting in 2D and 3D modeling. AutoCAD preferred.
- Experience with incorporating automation into scenic elements.
- Ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work in group settings or solo
- Working knowledge of creating files for CNC routers and 3D printers.
- Comfort with creative solutions for scenic engineering obstacles.
- Interest in improving any team they are a part of.
