Wage Scale: 2024 (2%)/Step 1: $60.96- Step 19: $91.00

FTE/Hours Per week: On Call

Reports to: Pharmacy Director

 

 

Job Summary

The Pharmacist is responsible for interpreting and filling prescription orders, educating patients on medication use and side effects, and ensuring compliance with pharmacy regulations. This role oversees medication storage, distribution, and inventory while managing refill requests, prior authorizations, and emergent medication needs. Additionally, the pharmacist consults with medical staff, supervises pharmacy technicians, and participates in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and process prescription orders, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulations.
  • Educate patients on medication use, potential side effects, and adherence.
  • Maintain proper storage, distribution, and documentation of pharmaceuticals.
  • Manage refill requests via various channels, including electronic health records, voicemail, and fax.
  • Authorize emergent medication refills and adjust prescriptions as needed.
  • Triage and respond to medication-related inquiries from patients and pharmacies.
  • Oversee the work of pharmacy technicians and assistants, verifying preparation and labeling of medications.
  • Maintain pharmaceutical inventory in coordination with the Clinical Site Director and Pharmacy Technician.
  • Manage clinic injectable drug inventory and ensure compliance with Board of Pharmacy regulations.
  • Provide oversight of clinic medications as per healthcare policies and procedures.
  • Offer consultation to medical providers and support staff regarding prescribing policies and patient care plans.
  • Develop and conduct in-service training sessions for medical staff as needed.
  • Participate in chart reviews, patient evaluations, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Engage in staff meetings and the employee evaluation process.

This position requires strong attention to detail, adherence to regulatory standards, and collaboration with healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.

 

Essential Functions

  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, fine finger movement, and use of a keyboard and telephone while viewing a computer monitor.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, twisting, pushing/pulling, and lifting (up to 50 pounds).
  • Adequate hearing, vision, and manual dexterity to operate patient care equipment.
  • Regular and reliable attendance to ensure smooth clinic operations and patient care.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (B.S. Pharmacy)

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1–2 years of experience as a pharmacist in an ambulatory care or clinical setting
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and prescription management systems
  • Knowledge of prior authorization processes and insurance formulary guidelines
  • Strong communication and patient education skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with healthcare providers and support staff 

 

Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations: 

  • Active and unrestricted pharmacist license in the state of Washington (required)
  • Active CPR certification (required).

 

 

Salary : $61 - $91
