Aquatic Farmer Diver/Tender
Work below surface of water, using Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus (SCUBA) and/or Surface Supply Air (SSA) gear to plant, harvest, maintain, survey, inspect, repair, remove, or install shellfish, marine animals, flora and fauna, equipment, devices, and structures. May use a variety of power and hand tools commonly found in shops, common and specialized dive gear, water jets, hoses, pumps, various gases in states of high and low compression, electrical monitoring devices, Venturi pumps, and others. May use heavy equipment such as boats, trucks, trailers, floating work platforms, tractors, engines, compressors, and other motorized devices. May conduct tests or experiments, or photograph and video structures or marine life. Non-dive work preparing and gathering equipment, tools, and other devices to complete the work plan, then cleaning and putting away tools, equipment and apparatus at the end of the day.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must have SCUBA (Dive Master and Solo Diver certifications are preferred) or SSA diver certification (higher preference for both Dive Master and SSA, but most desirable candidate will have Solo Diver and SSA certifications).
- Excellent, hand, underwater, verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with Supervisor, DPC, other crewmembers and as acting DPC.
- Maintenance of anchors, boats and floating structures.
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, achieving above average production amounts while maintaining a positive attitude and producing to an exceptional standard.
- Attend and participate in diver safety meetings, general safety meetings and other training.
- Knowledge of tides, currents, dive gear and equipment.
- Driver’s license and preference for safe boater’s license.
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
