What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller position at Seattle Shellfish LLC?
Seattle Shellfish was formed in 1997, to engage in the business of growing, harvesting, and distrubuting speacilaity seafood. In 26 years we have grown to be one of the largest geoduck company's, and have 80 employees. This position will play an instrumental part of the organization which includes oversight of the administrative staff and accounting staff. This position will include all aspects of financial administration that will include:
Essential Functions:
- Construct and analyze financial performance including monthly and yearly performance and ad hoc reports and taxes
- Oversee and supervise the monthly financial close and preparation of timely and accurate financial statements, associated reports and supporting schedules
- Maintain financial records in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Policies and Procedures (GAAP)
- Manage cash flow and treasury function
- Technical Accounting: revenue recognition, audit compliance, tax compliance, consolidations
- Construct, edit and maintain MS Excel-based reports
- Coordinate the efficient completion of financial audits
- Manage all tax returns and state annual report filings
- Assist design and implement cross-departmental opportunities to enhance efficiency
- Manage and process Member Interest reconciliations, distributions and all tax related reports
- Lead the accounting staff
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Advanced skills building and maintaining MS Excel to include pivot tables, macros, V-lookup, charts, and graphs
- Thorough knowledge of GAAP
- Strong understanding of GL and accounting principles including chart of accounts
- Advanced organizational methods to ensure quick and easy access to departmental information
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written; in person, phone, and email)
- Ability to build and manage ongoing relationships both internally and externally
- Ability to make decisions, work independently with little to no supervision, and maintain confidentiality
- Ability to work with integrity, trust and commitment, setting an example for others
