Salary/rate range: $35 /hr DOE
Reports to: Crew Production Manager

Job Summary:
The Arborist Crew Leader is the job site point of contact responsible for maintaining safety, providing a high standard of arboricultural practices, and leading the team. The Arborist Crew Leader communicates effectively with our clients, the office and the Project Managers. They are an action-oriented individual who can see the big picture and stay positive to foster a culture of finding solutions.This position requires leading by example with a positive attitude and the ability to mentor crew members. Responsibilities:
- Performs all Arborist Climber tasks safely, operates company equipment such as our aerial lift, bucket trucks, skid steers, and stump grinders
- Performs all Grounds crew tasks safely
- Directly supervises 2 employees (Arborist Ground Crew Members,Arborist Climbers,Arborist Apprentice Climbers) including job training, maintaining a safe work environment and performance feedback
- Interprets Work Orders as drafted by Project Managers and lead a crew to perform all technical aspects of a project
- Provides our clients with exceptional customer service and clear communication, including the pre-work introduction, the mid-work check-in and the end of project walk-thru; when client is not onsite, communicates via text/phone/email and includes photos
- Completes site specific safety plans on all projects ensuring a safe and efficient work environment, where all crew members understand the plan and know their role.
- Follow STC, OSHA and ANSI safety standards, wear necessary PPE & ensure anyone entering jobsite wears proper PPE including all crew members
- Completes CRM tasks for job tracking, site photos, and crew notes in a timely manner
- Document all job details, including crew member hours and change orders, in CRM
- Maintains lines of communication throughout each project with: the customer, Project Managers and office team
- Communicates directly with Operations Manager 1 hour prior to job completion to advise when add-on work is needed or if project will go longer than estimated
- Immediately reports any incidents in the field to the Operations Manager and Project Managers
- Ensure projects are completed as outlined in the work order and to the customer’s satisfaction; sites are left cleaner than when we arrived and moved items are returned to their original locations
- Accountability for team member hours; breaks, meal periods, and clocking in and out
- Ensures Incident or Injury Report Forms are completed for any incident that occurs on jobsite exceeding $50 in damages, and for all injuries
- Participate in weekly Crew Leader meetings and Safety Meetings
- Report all equipment / truck / tool mishaps to our mechanic team for fixes
- Provides strategic input to company owners around equipment purchases and in general
- Lead and mentor new and existing crew members, providing training and guidance to ensure high performance and adherence to company standards
- Assist in the development and delivery of training programs for staff, fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement.
- Support the onboarding process by effectively training new hires on job-specific tasks, safety protocols, and operational procedures.
- Monitor crew members’ progress and provide constructive feedback to enhance their skills and job knowledge.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Preferred: ISA Certified Arborist®, EHAP certification, Line Clearance Arborist certification
- 1-2 years of previous leadership experience, preferred not required
- 1-2 years of Climbing experience
- Demonstrated excellence in customer service
- Demonstrated track record of safety-focused work, establishing a safe jobsite and understanding of OSHA standards
- High School Diploma
Requirements and Skills:
- Valid WA Driver’s License
- Current CPR certification (or the ability to obtain within the first 3 months of hire)
- Ability to pass background check
- The ability to obtain TCIA Crew Leader® within 3 months of hire/promotion
- The ability to obtain EHAP certification within 3 months of hire/promotion
- The ability to obtain Line Clearance Arborist certification within 6 months of hire/promotion
- The ability to lift, push, and pull 50 pounds
- The ability to respond quickly to sounds
- The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces
- The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations
- The ability to work in varying environmental conditions
- The ability to wear personal protective gear correctly most of the day
- The ability to reach overhead
- The ability to grasp objects for prolonged periods of time
