Position Description

The Counseling Placement Program Manager serves two primary functions for the Counseling Department within the College of Education (COE): 1.) placement coordination for practicums and internships and 2.) management of professional licensure disclosure regulations for the On-Ground Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC), On-Ground School Counseling (SC), Online CMHC, and Online SC programs. This position will identify, approve, and secure counseling practicum and internship sites that meet state and CACREP accreditation requirements. This work also supports diversity, equity, and inclusion in the counseling profession by ensuring that practicum and internship placements provide students with an opportunity to work with marginalized client populations. The Counseling Placement Program Manager will also oversee a placement orientation for counseling students, provide professional-level support to secure field placements, track practicum and internship data and paperwork, establish community partnerships, and oversee the professional licensure disclosure data for the counseling programs.

Essential Job Functions

Practicum and Internship Placement Coordination (75%):

  • Identify, develop, and maintain collaborative partnerships with diverse community agencies and stakeholders that align with the Counseling Department and COE's social justice mission.
  • Ensure practicum and internship placements meet state and national accreditation standards.
  • Support partner initiatives, collaborations, and outreach efforts to identify future placements.
  • Build and maintain a database in Tevera for all clinical mental health-based and K-12 partnerships for the Counseling Department.
  • Create, maintain, and modify all Tevera forms for placements.
  • Collect, analyze, and report on practicum and internship progress to support accreditation efforts.
  • Facilitate practicum and internship placement information sessions for counseling students.
  • Collaborate with PPCT Director to update and maintain field experience handbooks for the counseling programs.
  • Provide practicum and internship search preparation and support to students.
  • Collaborate with data administrator, program directors, and administrative support to develop and maintain placement Canvas course.
  • Maintain complete and accurate program records to ensure data collection and analysis.
  • Collaborate with PPCT Director to create and provide training for site supervisors including, but not limited to, expectations, program specifics, and supervision.
  • Administer site supervisor and student satisfaction surveys at the end of the field experience.

Professional Licensure Disclosure Coordination (25%):

  • Build and maintain a program of study requirements for out-of-state counseling students.
  • Collaborate with counseling program directors to update students and faculty on certification and licensure mandates.
  • Provide counseling students with information sessions for obtaining licensing and credentials at significant benchmarks throughout their program.
  • Advise students and faculty on PPCT requirements, licensing exams, external workshops and courses that relate to internship and licensing (i.e., ACA, WMHCA).
  • Maintain professional licensure disclosure forms for students.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in counseling from a CACREP program or other closely related disciplines from an accredited institution plus 2 or more years of experience with placement coordination for practicums and internships or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Familiarity with CACREP regulations.
  • Familiarity with counselor licensure/certification policy and regulations, or state administrative statutes and codes.
  • Experience within an education environment (K-12 or higher education) and/or mental health agency.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365, including strong proficiency in Excel, SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Experience with data management systems.
  • Excellent organizational, attention to detail, and interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated success in a fast-paced environment, working collaboratively, and communicating effectively to promote teamwork, collegiality, and wellness.
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensed as a mental health counselor.
  • Experience with diverse student populations.
  • Experience with Tevera, Canvas, and Qualtrics.
  • Flexibility and willingness to assume new tasks and special projects.

Compensation At a Glance

Salary Range: $60,000 - $71,000

Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate's gender or any other protected status.

Hybrid Eligible

This position may be eligible for a hybrid schedule after successful completion of an introductory work period of 3-6 months. This may mean that a hybrid eligible role will begin on-campus initially and then will transition to hybrid format following onboarding and training. Flexible work plans are subject to periodic review and may be changed or terminated at any time for any reason at the university's discretion.
