Distribution Center Assistant

As a Distribution Center Assistant, you will help connect the inventory of the Distribution Center with the various ministers at the Seattle Union Gospel Mission. As well as helping support other non-profits throughout King County. This is accomplished through helping donors, sorting donations, leading volunteers and giving excellent customer service to clients. A strong candidate will be able to help meet department and mission goals.

Starting Pay: $20.89

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 - 4:30 pm.

How you will serve

• Operate a digital inventory system.
• Properly receive product into inventory system.
• Properly transfer inventory to different locations in the warehouse.
• Accurately and efficiently pick orders for Mission facilities and non-profit partners.
• Build furniture from a kit using a variety of hand tools, such as hammers, screwdrivers, pliers, etc.
• Identify items and sort them properly into pre-existing categories.
• Maintain accurate records for backup.
• Maintain and keep designated area clean, safe and organized.
• Transports and distributes items to the various departments in the warehouse.
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with customers, donors and co-workers through excellent customer service.
• Train and supervise volunteers on proper Distribution Center procedures and tasks.
• • Attend and participate in all Mission, Division and Department meetings and trainings, as required.
• Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.

How you qualify

• Acknowledge and sign the Mission's Statement of Faith (see below).
• High School diploma or GED is required.
• 1 year of Warehouse experience preferred.
• Forklift operation experience is preferred.
• Food handling experience preferred.
• Food Handler’s card preferred but no required.
• Previous experience working in cold storage preferred but not required.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to work in indoor/outdoor warehouse environments. Frequently will stand, walk, balance, twist, stoop, kneel and reach with hands/arms. Frequently lifts up to 50 pounds to assemble furniture. Frequently uses telephones and computers to monitor inventory. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
