EDM Specialist

MME Group – A Seaway Plastics Company is looking for a talented EDM Specialist to become a key part of our dynamic Tooling team. We're proud to be a leader in plastic and silicone injection molding right here in the Twin Cities — and we’d love for you to grow with us!

Primary Responsibilities:

• Independently operate Wire EDM and EDM Sinker machines with minimal supervision, maintaining high standards for accuracy and efficiency.
• Accurately read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints; identify and resolve discrepancies prior to initiating EDM processes.
• Proactively communicate production issues or deviations from specifications to the supervisor, utilizing email for documentation when appropriate.
• Identify, gather, and set up necessary electrodes and tooling for each job to ensure timely and accurate execution.
• Operate CAD and CAM software proficiently to support machining and design functions.
• Optimize machine performance by adjusting control parameters and settings as needed for each specific project.
• Perform in-process and final inspections of workpieces to verify conformance to specifications and quality standards.
• Conduct routine maintenance on equipment according to the preventive maintenance schedule (e.g., filter replacements), ensuring machine longevity and optimal performance.
• Maximize machine output and production capacity while minimizing waste and preventing equipment damage.
• Collaborate effectively with team members and contribute to a positive work environment.
• Assist in cross-functional tasks and support other tooling operations as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements:

• 2-year technical or trade school degree with an emphasis in toolmaking required.
• Strong technical math skills including geometry, trigonometry, and mechanical drafting.
• Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and quality standards.
• Strong communication skills; interact professionally with colleagues, supervisors, and customers.
• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office.
• General understanding of shop processes.
• Proficient in using precision measuring tools commonly used in mold building.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move heavier items safely using appropriate equipment.
