Seaworks Group is seeking to hire a Hydrographic Surveyor to join our field crews based out of the Benton Harbor, MI area. Seaworks Group conducts hydrographic surveys throughout the United States, primarily in the Great Lakes region. We utilize sonar and other technologies equipped on boats for bathymetric mapping of lakes, rivers, and ponds. As a Hydrographic Surveyor, your primary responsibility will be to conduct field surveys, collecting accurate and reliable hydrographic data for marine engineering, construction projects, and related projects. You will also be responsible for performing quality control (QC) checks on the collected data to ensure its accuracy and integrity. While prior experience in hydrographic surveying is preferred, we welcome candidates who possess a strong interest in the field and are committed to learning and growing in this role.
DUTIES/FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct hydrographic surveys using hydrographic surveying equipment, including echosounders, GPS systems, and data acquisition software.
- Perform real-time quality control (QC) checks on the collected data in the field to identify and resolve any anomalies or issues.
- Trailer vessels to and from job sites.
- Operate vessels during surveys.
- Run survey equipment and software.
- Operate GPS equipment.
- Assist in setting up survey vessels and preparing for job mobilization.
- Assist with equipment maintenance.
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- A degree in hydrographic surveying, geomatics, marine science, geoscience, or a related field is preferred.
- Knowledge of Hypack or any other hydrographic surveying software is a plus.
- Knowledge of multibeam and single-beam sonar installation, operations, and maintenance.
- Previous experience trailering boats or other trailers is a plus.
- Previous experience driving a boat is a plus.
- Some experience and familiarity with computers.
- Familiarity with Trimble GPS equipment is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively on the water for extended periods.
- Ability to assist in lifting heavy equipment when necessary.
- Hard-working and willing to learn.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work well with other crew members.
- Willingness to travel overnight occasionally.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
