What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager, Event Services position at SeaWorld San Antonio?
What it takes to succeed:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field strongly preferred.
- Two (2) years of prior special events experience strongly preferred.
- Must have 1 year of project management and/or supervisor experience.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain a SEA driver’s license.
- Prior theme park experience preferred.
- Must have excellent verbal and written skills in the English Language. Spanish speaking a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (i.e. Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook).
- Must be process and detail oriented as well as possess the ability to handle multiple projects with strict deadlines. Ability to work in high stress conditions and maintain confidential information appropriately.
- Must be able to work independently and have flexibility to work successfully in a team environment when needed.
- Must be able to push, pull, and lift a minimum of 30 lbs.
- Demonstrates initiative, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills; Professional and outgoing presence required. Ability to manage professional relationships with internal and external guests.
- Excellent problem solving and conflict resolutions skills.
- Provide excellent service to guests and team members.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and work for prolonged periods of time in extreme weather conditions.
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule to include weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays. Ability to travel if needed.
- Consistently practices safe work habits including, but not limited to the use of personal protective equipment, lifting and reporting of unsafe situations
- Must be willing to comply with and ensure team members comply with all SEA grooming guidelines and employment standards.
- Must be able to successfully complete all legal, company and department training requirements to include but not limited to passing required tests and certifications within established timelines.
What you get to do:
- Manage all special events that generate high catering revenue and admission.
- Manage Special Events team to include hiring, training, scheduling, and coordination of responsibilities and placement of each ambassador.
- Maintain accurate budget and labor expenses for Special Events by adhering to cost effective methods on required items.
- Marketing liaison between all SeaWorld departments for coordination of all special event logistics and support
- Prepare and distribute all special event prospectuses and summary sheets to Park team on a monthly basis and/or as needed.
- Pursue additional upsell opportunities on appropriate contracts & events for increased park revenue opportunities
- Fulfill any contract needs prior to event date to include printing of admission tickets, meal tickets or other specific client needs
- Conduct weekly communication meetings in regards to special events to update all internal departments.
- Monitor and communicate a comprehensive event booking sheet to include admission, facility fee and catering revenue.
- Assist in success of Marketing department by assisting in other areas when needed.
