Senior Manufacturing Engineer
As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will serve as the technical leader within the factory, driving excellence across three core areas: sustaining engineering, new product introduction (NPI), and continuous improvement. You will support and enhance machining processes used to produce high-precision medical devices and components.
This is a high-impact position ideal for a proactive problem solver with strong technical and project management skills in a dynamic production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret engineering drawings, develop manufacturing processes, and create CNC programs to produce precision medical devices and components. Conduct test runs and make adjustments to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Develop and maintain clear, accurate work instructions for machine operators to ensure consistent quality. Update documentation as needed.
- Lead root cause investigations and resolve issues during manufacturing to support safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets while minimizing machine downtime.
- Design and implement tooling, fixturing, and cell layouts. Oversee the selection, installation, and maintenance of production equipment in accordance with company policies.
- Initiate and lead process changes and introduce new processes. Generate engineering change orders and complete related documentation and system updates.
- Conduct process verification and validation. Support vendor, supplier, and component qualification activities.
- Explore and implement advanced machining technologies to improve productivity and reduce costs.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to engineers on tooling, fixtures, process development, and machinery support.
- Manage and deliver projects on time, including product transfers, continuous improvement initiatives, cost reduction efforts, design changes, and outsourcing/insourcing projects.
- Apply lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, GMP, and statistical tools to monitor and improve process capability and performance.
- Conduct failure analyses and implement corrective actions to improve device performance and process reliability.
- Maintain accurate records, logs, and reports. Present progress updates at regular design or project meetings.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to achieve project and operational goals.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role
- Strong background in CNC programming, process development, and continuous improvement within a regulated environment
- (Medical device industry experience preferred)
- Demonstrated experience in project leadership and mentoring engineering teams
- Solid knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and GMP principles
