Director of Caddie Services
Job Overview:
We are looking for a driven and highly motivated individual with a proven commitment to excellence to join our team as the Director of Caddie Services. This individual will be the fourth person in Secession history to hold this position. Our walking-only and caddie-mandatory policy, the DOCS position, is highly member-facing and plays a crucial role in the overall operations of the Club. This position provides a unique opportunity to define and execute a visionary, highly professional caddie operation that sets industry standards and earns recognition for excellence. The DOCS will be responsible for recruiting and managing a roster of approximately 70 independent contractor caddies, providing them with guidelines and feedback to ensure they deliver elite-level service and create memorable experiences for members and guests. The DOCS will oversee the smooth operation of daily play, managing arrival and bag drop services, practice facilities, first tee/start times, and ensuring the enforcement of the Club’s pace of play policies.
The successful candidate will have the temperament, as well as the vision, leadership, and organizational skills necessary to create a top-tier caddie experience, while maintaining smooth operations and high standards across all areas. They will have a demonstrated ability to network with their peers of other highly regarded caddie programs, with a focus on implementing best practices and recruiting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage, assign and oversee a roster of 70 independent contractor caddies, ensuring the highest level of service, professionalism, and consistency.
- Develop and implement strategies for recruiting, overseeing, and retaining exceptional caddies.
- Oversee the daily operations of the practice facilities.
- Manage the flow of daily play, including coordinating member and guest arrivals, assigning caddies, overseeing the first tee and the golf course to ensure a smooth flow for the day.
- Monitor pace of play throughout the day and manage groups on the golf course appropriately within the Club’s pace of play policies.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless coordination between the caddie program and Club operations.
- Ensure all caddie services are delivered in accordance with the Club's standards, worthy of creating memorable experiences for members and guests.
Ideal Candidate:
- Proven of experience in leadership roles in a caddie or golf-related environment, with demonstrated abilities working within a larger team.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Proven ability to network within the industry and possess strong affiliations with other highly regarded caddie programs.
- A positive and personable individual who is respectful by nature and respected by peers, providing a healthy balance of firmness and compassion in reaching desired outcomes.
- A passion for golf, an intense knowledge of the game and etiquette, and a proven dedication to delivering an exceptional member and guest experience. Strong golf backgrounds will be highly regarded.
- Experience managing independent contractors is preferred.
- A proactive and solution-oriented mindset, with the ability to anticipate needs and address challenges effectively.
- Strong understanding of golf course operations. A proven track record of administering policies preferred.
- Demonstrated time management skills.
- Extensive background as a caddie within a highly regarded operation preferred.
- CPR certified required.
Current Program Specifics
- 22,000 Rounds (inc. 10% replay rounds)
- Walking caddie mandatory, double bag loops
- Club Open mid-September through mid-June.
- Fall Peak Season (mid-October through mid-December)
- Spring Peak Season (March through mid-May)
