Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate SNAP Outreach Field Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in connecting with the community, promoting SNAP, and supporting individuals in need. This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate outreach effectively.
The SNAP Outreach Field Coordinator is responsible for implementing the SNAP outreach program through Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee’s mission and vision to end hunger. The Coordinator works with mobile food pantries, agencies and within communities to identify and assist potential clients with the SNAP application process. They will cultivate relationships with community partners to build awareness for the program, as well.
Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule and implement projects related to the SNAP Outreach Program.
- Provide positive client experiences through responsive feedback and customer service.
- Assist clients with application completion.
- Develop resources and tools (posters, brochures etc.) for targeted populations.
- Develop and implement outreach strategies to engage community members.
- Coordinate events and workshops that promote SNAP education and resources.
- Collaborate with local organizations to enhance service and resource sharing.
- Conduct needs assessments to identify gaps in services and develop targeted programs.
- Maintain accurate records of outreach activities, neighbor engagement, and program outcomes.
- Prepare reports on outreach efforts and present findings to management.
PROGRAM REPORTING
- Complete paperwork for services as needed.
- Provide records in accordance with policies and procedures and funding requirements.
- Complete all reports as needed or as requested.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
- Engage community in outreach opportunities related to the SNAP program.
- Coordinate and collaborate with partners and other resource services.
- Facilitate discussion with partners and community members related to program services and parameters.
- Provide insight and information to build awareness of the program.
- Provide partner agencies and other community locations with SNAP Outreach training.
- Establish and maintain effective, courteous relationships with employees, supervisors, neighbors,and the general public; attend meetings and trainings as required; and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Public Health, or a related field preferred, but not required. Minimum of 2 years of related work experience, required.
- Experience in community outreach and social services.
- Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills demonstrating clarity and on-target messaging for a variety of audiences.
- Passion for community service and improving the well-being of individuals.
- Prefer experience with Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multi-faceted demands and deadlines.
- Organized and detail oriented, yet flexible with an adaptable personal style.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision using independent judgment for decision making, as well as work cooperatively with other organizational staff, volunteers, donors and clients.
- Strong belief in Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee’s mission, vision and values.
