What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Aide/Driver Supervisor - Specialized position at Second Home Adult Day Care?
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Supervision:
- Provide day-to-day supervision of direct support staff on the specialized side of the center.
- Lead by example with a calm, compassionate, and consistent approach.
- Model and coach de-escalation strategies and positive behavior support techniques.
- Ensure staff follow care plans, behavior plans, and program protocols consistently.
- Support team morale and foster a culture of respect, empathy, and accountability.
Client Support:
- Build trusting relationships with individuals served, respecting their dignity, autonomy, and unique needs.
- Provide direct support to participants as needed, and some personal care.
- Intervene during behavioral escalations using approved non-violent interventions.
- Monitor mental health symptoms and communicate concerns with clinical team and case managers.
Administrative Duties:
- Manage and maintain accurate documentation for attendance, incident reports, behavioral data, and daily notes.
- Create and maintain staff schedules, ensuring appropriate coverage.
- Assist in the development and implementation of individual service plans and behavior support plans.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and communicate effectively with families, case managers, and outside professionals.
- Ensure program compliance with state regulations, waiver requirements, and internal policies.
Technical & Communication Skills:
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other data entry/reporting software.
- Comfortable learning and navigating various online platforms and databases used in waiver documentation and communication.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for reports, emails, and daily staff interactions.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree in human services, social work, psychology, or related field strongly preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with adults with developmental disabilities, including individuals with challenging behaviors and/or mental health diagnoses.
- At least 1 year of supervisory or leadership experience in a similar setting preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in behavior management and de-escalation techniques (such as CPI, TCI, or similar).
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be physically able to assist with personal care and respond quickly to behavioral incidents.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background checks and drug screening.

Work Schedule & Conditions:
- Monday through Friday, 6:55am – 3:30pm
- Indoor/outdoor setting within a day program. Driving in the community in a Second Home vehicle.
- Frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting.
